Only 20 US players of its 22 player roster were announced today that will compete at the 2011 Four Nations Cup from Nov. 9-13 in Nyköping, Sweden. The U.S. will add two goaltenders to its final roster following its training camp in Hamden, Conn., Nov. 1-6.
Fifteen players from the roster that captured the gold medal at the 2011 World Championship this past April, have made this team including defensemen Kacey Bellamy, Caitlin Cahow. Molly Engstrom, Gigi Marvin, and Josephine Pucci and forwards Julie Chu, Kendall Coyne, Brianna Decker, Meghan Duggan , Hilary Knight, Jocelyne Lamoureux , Monique Lamoureux-Kolls , Jenny Potter, Jen Schoullis and Kelli Stack .
Brianne McLaughlin, Molly Schaus and Jessie Vetter will be vying for the two goaltending spots on the Team USA roster. The U.S. will open play against Sweden on Nov. 9, at 9:30 a.m. EST at Stora Hallen Arena. The 20 players named to the U.S. Women's National Team to date hail from 11 states, with Massachusetts leading the way with four players ... Katey Stone, head coach at Harvard University, is the head coach of the U.S. Women's National Team for the 2011-12 season and will guide the team in Nyköping.
